Group Fitness Classes

All group fitness classes are FREE with your YMCA membership except for those designated on the calendar with a $. The classes with a $ are fee-based classes.
Classes are for members 12 and older. Classes designated as “Family” classes are open to members age 8 and up.
Classes with six or fewer participants are subject to cancellation.

Central Facility Group Exercise Schedule (Lee Branch below)

ALL LEVELS

AerobicTone: Utilize the guidance of our Fit Coaches as you tone your entire body with special exercises for often hard to target areas.

Boxing Conditioning: Conditioning fitness including Boxing, Kickboxing, MMA, and Wrestling, Taught by Certified PT expert for all levels.

Belle Barre: (not currently on schedule) A fusion of kettlebell and dance barre fitness; combining these two forms of exercise creates a full body conditioning. No dance experience is required.

Boxing Conditioning: Conditioning fitness includes: boxing, kickboxing, MMA, and wrestling. Taught by certified Personal Trainer expert. Best of all this is FREE for members! Class meets upstairs, Paramount side.

Line dancing: Get movin’ with choreographed dances with a repeated sequence of steps in which a group of people dance in one or more lines or rows. Line dances includes pop, country, swing, rock and roll, disco, Latin, and Jazz music styles.

Pilates: (not currently on schedule) Welcome to Pilates! This mat-based workout is designed to improve core control, coordination, standing alignment & balance. Come join us to build strength from the inside out!

Standing Pilates/Core Stability: (not currently on schedule) A GREAT alternative/addition to any core conditioning and balanced training without going to the floor. All exercises will be done standing or with chair making it SAFE for anyone who may need this option to not have pressure on the spine including pregnancy!

SpinŽ: Cycling is a great cardio workout and is appropriate for all fitness levels. You can adjust your workout to match your personal level. Certified Instructors will lead you on a ride designed to improve your fitness on a variety of levels - endurance, strength, interval, all-terrain & training. Remember to bring a water bottle & a towel. If new to SpinŽ please arrive 15 minutes prior to class start to learn the basics. Group Cycling: Cycling classes lead by Instructors other than MAD DOGG certified. (See schedule for days and time.)

30-Minute Circuit Express: Want to tone your entire body on weight machines, need some guidance from a Personal Trainer and keep your workout short? This circuit class is perfect for you. Arrive any time during the designated time slot indicated on the schedule.

Yoga: Let Yoga’s flowing movements sychronized with the breath soothe your mind & body. Let Yoga’s challenges build your strength and flexibility. All Yoga classes are taught by highly trained instructors to help with personal needs. See Yoga/Pilates Schedule for more details.

Mindful Meditation: An opportunity for individuals to de-stress and find quality mental “down time.” May use a chair or sit on floor.

Sports Boot Camp: Anyone can benefit from Boot Camp style exercises! Both indoor and outdoor classes provide a variety of equipment and options for full-body fitness FUN!

ZumbaŽ: It’s more than just aerobic dance and it’s better than traditional fitness. Zumba is a combination of Latin and international music choreographed with fun, dynamic dance and exercise moves.

BEGINNER LEVEL

Free Weight 101: Open for all members age 15 and up. Learn the basics of free-weight lifting such as bench presses and squats to ensure proper form and safety. Class will be conducted by our experienced Fit Coaches.

Lite SpinŽ: (not currently on schedule.) Lights are ON! A New SpinŽ class designed for everybody! Ride at your own pace, enjoy music that will encourage fun and enjoyment as well! Instruction on bike set up and riding techniques will be taught by SpinŽ certified instructor.

Step Basics: Consider taking Step Basics prior to joining the class if you have never taken Step before. This Step introduction will make your Step experience more enjoyable.

Yoga 101: For new students to build a strong foundation of this ancient practice of yoga. You will learn the details of breath, alignment, and focus to guide you safely and with confidence to go to the next level class. (Call Donnette Kline-Lewis to schedule an appointment; 436-0531 x 222)

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED LEVEL

Boot Camp: Interested in getting down to business for a great physical workout doing traditional exercises from the military and sports? Want a variety of different exercises so it doesn’t get boring? Want to see improvements in cardiovascular endurance, toning and body fat? If you answer “yes” to these questions, then you will reap the benefits. Class meets on tennis court 4.

Step & Sculpt: Try this class if you love upbeat music, want to be challenged with a variety of Step choreograhpy, and want to flex your muscles. Light weights, bands and balls are used to add sculpting to your muscles.

Strong by ZumbaŽ: A Non-dance HITT program. You finish a class feeling like a champ! Sweat like there is no tomorrow! Moving in sync with the music driving to consistently push yourself past existing limits and meet new goals faster!

Step by ZumbaŽ: A FUN way to add cardio to your fitness program by incorporating ZumbaŽ moves and music on the step!

FAMILY & YOUTH FITNESS CLASSES (Free!)

TurboKidz: (not currently offered.) Do your kids age 7-11 need a fitness class just for them? Then try TurboKids, a 45-minute activity class using a variety of exercise moves and equipment for a complete workout. Class pick-up/drop-off is in Child Watch and may move to different locations.

Tot Lot: (not currently offered.) Tot Lot Is a free movement class for youth ages 3-5 who participate in Child Watch. Tots will move, have fun, be entertained and love being at the Y when participating in Tot Lot. Members must drop their children off in Child Watch prior to participating in Tot Lot.

Lee Branch Group Exercise Schedule

ALL LEVELS

Belle Barre: (not offered at this time) A NEW fitness class, exclusive to the Albany/Lee Co. YMCA, this is a fusion of kettlebell and dance barre fitness. Combining these two forms of exercise creates full-body conditioning, for mind and body of any age or fitness level.

Boot Camp: Now your work begins! Get ready to put some time into YOU! De-stress from your day! Traditional exercises from the military and various sports conditioning; BYO kettlebell and mat for ground work. Boot Campers will meet outside Lee Branch facility; inside for weights/cardio if rain.

Pilates; Pilates on the Ball: (Ball is offered on 1st Tuesday of every month) Welcome to Pilates! This mat-based or ball workout is designed to improve core control, coordination, standing alignment & balance. Come join us to build strength from the inside out!

SpinŽ: Cycling is a great cardio workout and is appropriate for all fitness levels.You can adjust your workout to match your personal level. Certified Instructors will lead you on a ride designed to improve your fitness on a variety of levels - endurance, strength, interval, all-terrain & training. Remember to bring a water bottle & a towel. If you are new to SpinŽ, please arrive early to class so the Instructor has time to help you set your bike properly for an enjoyable and safe ride.

Cardio Dance: A combination of easy to follow choreographed steps to pop and country music. Fitness for everybody!

Cardio Kick: A Fun and Energizing cardio fitness class with a blend of various movements to enhance overall fitness.

30-Minute Circuit Express: If you need assistance on the weight machines and motivation to keep your workout moving, then this is the class for you. The class alternates between weight machines and a cardio every minute.

SilverSneakersŽ Classic: is Tivity (preciously Healthways) core group exercise class of the SilverSneakers Fitness Program. SilverSneakers Ž Classic is a total body conditioning class offering exercises for the upper and lower body designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living (ADL’s). Resistance tools and a chair for seated and standing support are used to increase the effectiveness of functional skills and abilities needed for independent living.

Stability: (not offered at this time) This class has balance exercise for all ages and abilities. Statistic support that balance greatly improve one’s ability to stay mobile, improve bone density and reduces the risks of falls and broken bones. A MUST for ALL!

Chair Yoga: …is a gentle Hatha Yoga class using a chair as a prop for seated as well as standing postures. This class is designed to increase mobility of all joints by increasing flexibility though gentle stretching. Relaxation is achieved though quiet music and a darkened room. This class is appropriate for everyone.

Hatha Yoga: is a Yoga class that teaches basic yoga technique for breathing, postures and focus, offering the same qualities as above. Ability to move to the floor and standing are required. All levels of fitness can benefit from this class.
